In order to be able to sit your IELTS exam, you must have valid ID. The only valid forms of identification which we accept are:
- for nationals: original passport or Citizenship Card
- for foreign nationals: original passport
To guarantee that your application is approved by our system, you must upload your ID when you book your exam. You must hand a scanned copy of both sides of your ID (in colour & maximum size 1.3 MB). The file must be in JPEG, GIF or PNG format. The image must be less than 1600 x 1600 pixels. If you register using your passport, you must upload the document as an open book, making sure that the image shows both pages: the page containing your personal information and the following page.
On the day of your exam, you must use the ID with which you registered. If you present a different form of ID, you will not be able to sit the exam and will not be entitled to a refund.
Please note that your ID must be uploaded correctly to the platform before the test registration deadline. If not, your test will be transferred to the next available session, and you will not be entitled to a refund.
Incomplete registrations will not be processed.
Candidates under 18 years old should ask their parents or guardians for help when reserving the IELTS on their behalf. Any candidate between 11 - 17 years old must submit the following forms signed by their parent/guardian: IELTS Minor Consent Form and Consent for leaving the premises without adult supervision.
In the case that you face difficulties in uploading your ID to our system according to the specifications described above, you may send it directly to us at ieltschile@britishcouncil.org
